Kananga arrives in Muhumuro after a long journey. Mugenga and Mbarubukeye make plans to ruin Shema and Batamuriza’s wedding. Shema tries to convince Mbarubukeye that Batamuriza is a good person, but he will not listen.
Nyirandatwa urges Mbarubukeye and Mugenga to talk and make peace with their enemies. Zaninka makes plans to commit suicide after she finds out about Batamuriza and Shema’s wedding. Shema and his mother make plans about the wedding ceremony, and Batamuriza and Mukahirwa start to prepare the party.
Bahizi flees when he sees Mbarubukeye and Mugenga in the village. Shema, Mukahirwa and Gasore all try to reassure Batamuriza, and get her ready to face her mother.
Zaninka and Bahizi eventually arrive back home, but they are unsure how secure the area is. Zaninka is not happy about the news of Shema and Batamuriza’s wedding.
Mugenga and Mbarubukeye are unhappy the refugees are returning home. Rutaganira continues to improve his relationship with his neighbours; he helps them with work and they lend him livestock. Manyobwa and Seromba argue over how many brochettes he can eat a day.
